Mondragon University has published a new book entitled “KOOPEZI-i: Scale to measure the profile of the cooperative individual among young students.” The work was carried out by researchers Oxel Azkarate-Iturbe, Aitor Aritzeta, Ion Lezeta, José Ramón Vitoria, Iban Galletebeitia, Ane Sánchez and Miren Zubizarreta. The book was written under the direction of researchers from the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University, with the participation of researchers from other Mondragon University faculties and departments, and researchers from the Faculty of Psychology of the University of the Basque Country, in collaboration with faculties and centers of the different educational networks in Gipizkoa.

The coordinator of the work, Oxel Azkarate-Iturbe, explained that the objective of the project was “to fill a hole identified in the transformation processes undertaken by educational centers and university faculties, the need to evaluate/measure the individual or student profile according to the mission of the institutions in question, using the student voice.

The book is the fruit of two years of research. Taking as a point of departure the students’ self-perception, the research proposes a scale for measuring the profile of the cooperative individual among young students. The publication explains the need for such a scale and its creation process, and provides instructions for its use as well as the questionnaire used in the research. KOOPHEZI-i is a tool that is applicable not only for students in high school, but also for those in professional training and in university degree programs.

The KOOPHEZI project was funded by the Provincial Government of Gipuzkoa and is sponsored by the Gizabidea Foundation and the ULMA Foundation.
