Education and branding

In the presentation, the organizers explained the objectives of the conference and detailed the program for this first year. Agurtzane Elkoro, AZK director of branding and communication strategy stated that “it is essential for any school to have a strong brand and to be consistent with the values of that brand, not only to make itself stand out from other schools, but also to position and strengthen itself.” Amaia Pavón, head of projects and transfer in the field of Communication in the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences, added that “educational institutions and centers are concerned about communication issues” and went on to say that “the aim of the Faculty is to offer a comprehensive transfer service and to train future teachers and existing professionals, as well as to help those responsible for communication in those schools.”

Speakers

The conference will have two parts. In the first part, Olga Llopis, branding expert and member-director of branding agency Comuniza, will explain strategies to improve branding in educational institutions. After the subsequent discussion, it will be time to hear success stories. Three cases will be presented. First, Ainhoa Permach Martín, Head of Communication at San Fermín School, will explain the brand renovation process carried out by the Pamplona school a few years ago and the benefits that that renovation brought about. Next, Oñati High School Director of Studies Lukene Igartua Egaña will explain the key factors used to strengthen the brand of that educational center. To wrap up the presentations, Pello Agirrezabal, former Director of Early Childhood and Primary Education at the Herrikide School in Tolosa, will share his experience regarding the rebranding recently carried out by the school.

Organization

The Hau da marka! conference is organized by the AZK communication agency and the Mondragon University’s Communication campus in Aretxabaleta. The AZK group, which is based in Arrasate, has extensive experience in communication issues and, above all, in issues related to brand improvement, having become an iconic organization in those fields in the Basque Country. For its part, since 1976, the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University has been influencing education, conducting research, training teachers and, since the inauguration of its Communication campus in Aretxabaleta, working on integrating the fields of communication and education. The organizers aim to make the Hau da marka! conference an annual event for all those interested in issues related to branding.
