Fourth-year Audiovisual Communication students Andrea Aranburu, Mikel Orbañanos, Nagore Arin and Andrea Vitoria won the 6th annual Basque Debate Tournament, which was held today, November 16, in Pamplona. The competition took place in the main hall of the Navarre Parliament building.

The topic for this year’s debate was “Should the states of the European Union relax immigration policy?” The students had ten days in which to prepare a 14-minute presentation consisting of a 3-minute introduction, an 8-minute development section, and a 3-minute conclusion. All members of each group were required to speak.

This was the first time that students from all over the Basque Country participated in the tournament. The Mondragon University students competed against students from the Public University of Navarre, the University of the Basque Country, the University of Deusto, and the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour.

The Public University of Navarre was responsible for organizing this year’s tournament.

The students from Mondragon University were accompanied by Mondragon University General Secretary Idoia Peñakoba and Audiovisual Communication degree coordinator Idoia Astigarraga.
