Seven projects from the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences were submitted for consideration to grant programs of the Provincial Government of Gipuzkoa. Of those seven, five were approved for funding in the “2018 Program for the Promotion of Participation in Business in Gipuzkoa” and the “2018 Program for the Promotion of Talent and Learning in Business.”

The Provincial Government of Gipuzkoa has launched a large number of programs and grants for the purpose of promoting entrepreneurship, industry 4.0, internationalization, innovation, and participation. Proposals that have won subsidies include projects that promote implementation processes in companies, as well as research projects and development projects in these areas.

The purpose of the “Program for the Promotion of Participation in Business in Gipuzkoa” is to promote business establishment, continuity and competitiveness through active, effective and responsible participation. Two projects received financing through this program:

  • Kooperatiba Fabrika: Program for the Promotion of Cooperative Social Entrepreneurship and Social Economics in Gipuzkoa

KoopFabrika is a program organized by Mondragon University’s Lanki Institute for Cooperative Studies and OlatuKoop. This is its third year of existence. Mondragon University offers intensive university training in social entrepreneurship in the form of a specialist course. In the most recent course, 27 cooperative social entrepreneurship and community development projects were created by 42 entrepreneurs.

  • A participation-based cooperative governance framework and its implementation

This project is a research action process to improve the system of participatory governance in cooperatives.

Additionally, the “Program for the Promotion of Talent and Learning in Business” aims to promote the talent and skills of people in companies, and to create shared business, social and territorial values. The Faculty projects that received funding are the following.

  • KOOPHEZI. Measurement of the profile of cooperative young people and adults in educational institutions and companies.

The KOOPHEZI tool developed by the Faculty measures cooperative attitudes in young people between 16 and 22 years of age. The tool, whose use was tested on 1,200 people, measures 17 different factors, such as entrepreneurship and social identity.

  • A research-action-participatory project to renew people’s talent in cooperatives and commitment to the territory.

This is a research project to examine and renew the social transformation aspect of cooperatives.

  • Research and systematization of learning processes and empowerment in the development of cooperative talent.

This research process aims to examine and systematize the processes of cooperative education.
