Two projects by Mondragon University among the ten finalists of the Nimble Bee international industrial design competition

Two projects of students of the Degree in Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering of Mondragon University are among the ten finalists of the Nimble Bee international design competition, which aims to promote and publicise the R&D performed by young people from universities worldwide through real Industrial Design projects requested by companies. The Nimble Bee competition is held twice a year, every spring and autumn. The challenge of this edition is to design detergent tablets for dishwashers for the British multinational McBride.

The two finalist projects of Mondragon University are:

  • Aroma Concept, by Víctor Perez Muñoz. His tablet seeks to relate the product with nature and exploits premium aspects while using the aroma of the product as a tool. 
  • Shuriken, by Ioritz Hontecillas & Iratxe Goñi, has pleased the jury thanks to its innovative and futuristic design, capable of transmitting strength and energy.

In the following phase of the contest, the finalists will receive feedback from both users/consumers and the members of the jury. The finalists can use this feedback to polish their projects. The winners of the contest will be announced in mid-February 2017 and will receive €3,000, €2,000 and €1,000, respectively.

It is not the first time that the students of the Degree in Design of Mondragon University obtain good results in this international competition. The students of the Higher Polytechnic School are assiduous in their track record and have even won three previous editions with projects for the multinational brewers Heineken and AB InBev.

McBride is a UK-based manufacturer of home and personal care products. McBride invoices £680 million, with 14 production plants in Europe, and is the leading manufacturer in the supply of private label products in the categories of personal and home care.
