The fourth edition of the ICU Programme will be held from September to December 2019 and aims to analyse and understand the needs of users of each participating company and propose improvements to their products or services. The methodological foundations and practical case will be addressed with each participating company based on user-centred innovation.

The programme was jointly developed by Bilbao Ekintza and students of the Centre for Innovation in Design of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and co-funded by the European Social Fund. In a presentation held on 30 May, the organisation promoted and disseminated the ICU methodologies through success stories of companies participating in the previous programmes and leading companies in this field in the Basque Country, being the first of the acts featured in the programme for 2019.

Monitoring towards innovation

The organisation of the 4th ICU Programme has developed a programme composed of group workshops, an ICU Forum, and an In-Company Training, all free of charge.

  • The group workshops are composed of 2 sessions of 5 hours each (9-14 hours), which will take place on 13 and 20 September, 2019. The purpose of these workshops is to present the methodological foundations and work on the practical case with each company, counting on the presence of one of the participating companies of previous editions, which will share its own experience in relation to this programme.
  • The ICU Forum will be held on 27 September, with the aim of creating a forum for debate and networking based on the various ICU experiences. It will include, for this purpose, the participation of design agencies that work based on this methodology and companies that have participated in this and in previous editions of the programme.
  • Finally, in the In-Training in Company, 2 of the 10 companies participating in the programme will have access to 5 sessions of 4 hours each for training in their own workplace in relation to their own innovation project. Each of these sessions will feature a part of introduction of concepts, methods, tools and examples, followed by a main part in which the company’s team, with the aid and monitoring of the staff from Mondragon Unibertsitatea, will work on an internal project.
