Two students of the second year of the Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering of Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa will be participating in the 10th edition of the Congress on Numerical Methods in Engineering, to be held between on 1-3 July in Guimarães, Portugal. The main purpose of the congress is to be an exchange forum in which researchers, both from the academic and industrial spheres, share new developments in the fields of computational mechanics, numerical methods, and applications in engineering.

This is the second occasion on which second-year students of the Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering attend a congress to present the results obtained in the project developed within the framework of the subject of Material Forming.

It is an initiative promoted by the teaching staff of the Master’s degree, which aims to encourage and reward the work developed by the students in this subject. After the presentation of all the papers by the students, the teaching staff performs an assessment and selects the group that will present their results at the congress.

On this occasion, students Javier Mendieta and Ander Martinez have been selected to attend the congress in Portugal in July, where they will present their paper “Geometric prediction of a component using numerical modelling tools” and will defend their results before congress attendees. In this paper, the students modelled the shaping of a metallic component and compared its geometric prediction with the experimental results.
