Audiovisual Communication professor and researcher Eneko Bidegain has published his essay “Lurraldea eta herria” (“Territory and People”) with the Pamiela publishing house.

The book has 272 pages and in it Bidegain examines the importance of territorial unity in the collective and cultural identity of the people. According to the author, the loss of power and the division of the territory have brought about a weakening of the Basque consciousness, and in recent decades the impact of administrative division has increased, to the detriment of the unity and cohesion of the people.

In Bidegain’s opinion, the Basque Country has gone from unity to division. In his words, the administrative situation has created a dangerous situation in relationships among Basques, culture, sports, references, media, infrastructure, economics, education, and services. In the book, the author proposes some basic ideas or starting points with an eye to better consolidating the nation.

The book was presented in Labourd, at the Sara Writers’ Convention, on April 2. In the coming days, starting on April 13 in San Sebastian, Bidegain will begin live presentations.

This book is the tenth published by Bidegain and it was published with the support of the Specialist Course in Basque Cultural Transmission of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences.
