The second edition of the international Hack&Disrupt! hackathon, the fintech and insurtech hackathon in which challenges on sustainable finance are solved, ended with two winners: the Greenhack and Pasión teams, which won the challenges launched by Kutxabank and Finantzas Haratago, respectively. The hackathon, which this year focused on ethical finance, had 126 participants and of these, 40 young people signed up to solve the organizations' challenges.

Specifically, the Greenhack team won the challenge presented by Kutxabank that consisted of designing a sustainability rating system for companies and small businesses, while the Pasión team took first place in the Finantzas Haratago challenge on how to attract more customers to ethical finance.

Following last year's success, BME and BBF Fintech organized the second edition of this event, which took place at the Bilbao Stock Exchange and at the Mondragon Unibertsitatea campus, Bilbao Berrikuntza Faktoria. The event has brought together companies, students, entrepreneurs and startups to solve technological challenges and has had the collaboration of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, Bizkaia Provincial Council, Bilbao City Council, BBK and Triodos Bank, which have shared the initiatives they are carrying out around ethical finance. 5,000 euros in prizes were awarded.

The event began with the launch of the challenges to the participants, who after 24 uninterrupted hours working on the approach of the solutions, have been presented and judged by the jury, which has decided the two winning projects and the semifinalists, who have been awarded cash prizes of 2,000 euros and 500 euros.

The BBF Fintech incubator is a public-private initiative with 3 years of trajectory, promoted by the City Council of Bilbao, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia through Beaz, Mondragon Unibertsitatea and Dominion. Its objective is to incubate new businesses in finance and technology, as well as to accelerate existing companies in this field.
