WEATHER

Set in one of the world’s more temperate zones, the Basque Country has a wonderfully mild climate with few extremes of temperature or weather conditions when the seasons change. The climate, the influence of the sea, and an attractive blend of villages, mountains, hills and abundant greenery, all make the Basque Country a place full of natural surprises. Plentiful rainfall waters a naturally fertile terrain spread out on either side of the western prolongation of the Pyrenees, which divides the Basque Country into two different microclimates and social areas.

BANKS AND MONEY

It is convenient to open a bank account here. It is simple and easy to get a bank account. Caja Laboral is a very popular cooperative bank in Mondragon.

CURRENCY

Euro is the currency in the Basque Country. 

ELECTRICITY

The usual voltage we use is 220 V and 50 cycles. European type electric sockets, with two round pins.

SHOPPING

Shops open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:30 to 20:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00.

Big stores open from 10:00 to 22:00 from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays shops are closed all day.

POSTAL SERVICE

The Post Office opens from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 14:30.

It is advisable to get a local mobile phone.
