Expert Course in Cooperative Development: 14 years revitalizing cooperativism

This exemplary course begins on October 8. It is run by the LANKI Institute of Cooperative Research of Mondragon University’s Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences in conjunction with Mondragon’s Otalora Center for Management and Cooperative Development.

On October 8, Expert Course in Cooperative Development will open its 14th year. This year, 18 representatives from 11 cooperatives will participate in the course, which will be held on the Eskoriatza campus.

The course is organized in two parts. In the first part, students will work on the theoretical-practical contents of cooperativism, while in the second part, they will put everything they have learned into practice and carry out a real project.

This year, the course will be attended by representatives from the following cooperatives: Fagor Automation; Lagunaro Services, S.Coop.; RPK, S.Coop.; Eika, S.Coop.; Fagor Electronics, S.Coop.; Copreci, S.Coop.; Ulma Packaging, S.Coop.; Maier, S.Coop.; Fagor Ederlan, S.Coop; Fagor Industrial; and Ulma Cye, S.Coop.

The course addresses four specific objectives:

  • To offer participants a solid base of theoretical-practical knowledge from which to understand and analyze the cooperative reality.
  • To offer knowledge and tools with which to develop the socio-business project of cooperatives.
  • To create a space in which to share practices and promote reflection among participants from different cooperatives.
  • To create a practical end-of-course project focused on strengthening the socio-business project of cooperatives.

Since its first year, the Expert Course in Cooperative Development has been very well received among cooperatives. Thus, more than 280 representatives from 40 different cooperatives have participated in the course to date.

The course is run by the LANKI Institute of Cooperative Research of Mondragon University’s Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences in conjunction with Mondragon’s Otalora Center for Management and Cooperative Development.
