Mondragon University’s LANKI Institute of Cooperative Studies will host the seventh annual Conference on Cooperativism on July 4 in Arantzazu, Oñati. The conference will take place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm under the title “Human Cooperation in Organizations.”

 

The conference will begin at 9:00 with opening remarks, followed by talks by University of Zaragoza researcher Héctor Marín Manrique and University of Groningen professor Rafael Wittek.

 

After the break (from 11:30 to 12:00), there will be a participatory session led by yoga, relaxation and meditation instructor Bugui García. Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences researcher Ion Lezeta will give a talk from 1:30 to 2:00.

 

PROGRAM

  • 8:45-9:00 Reception in the Gandiaga “Oteiza Room.”
  • 9:00-9:30 Welcome and opening remarks.
  • 9:30-11:30 Talks:
    • “Why do we cooperate? Evolutionary bases of cooperative behaviors in humans.” Héctor Marín Manrique (University of Zaragoza).
    • “What makes cooperation sustainable over time? Conditions that promote or diminish human cooperation in organizations.” Rafael Wittek (University of Groningen).
  • 11:30-12:00 Coffee break.
  • 12:00-1:30 Participatory session led by Bugui García
  • 1:30-2:00 “How do we measure cooperation within organizations? The profile of the cooperative person in work settings.” Ion Lezeta (Mondragon University).
  • 2:00 Closing remarks and “Lunch in the Hall.”
