The Faculty of Humanities and Education has launched a new specialist course for the 2018-2019 academic year: The role of the teacher in innovation in Childhood Education. The course, which will begin in September, is aimed a professionals in Childhood Education, and will be taught on the Aretxabaleta campus.

The course is intended for graduates, degree holders, and senior technicians in Childhood Education. The specialist certification is especially recommended for people who are professionally involved in processes of innovation or who will soon be involved in such processes.

The specialist course will focus on three main areas:
  1. Teacher awareness in relationships. The person behind the teacher is the most important tool of the profession. As education is a profession that revolves around relationships, the primary objective is for each person to be aware of him- or herself, and of his or her abilities and influence.
  2. Teacher innovation through the integration of theories. Innovations tends to be based on many different theories but often those theories are not integrated. The specialist certification seeks to provide integration of various theories.
  3. Teacher innovation in a group. Educational innovation is based on collaboration. For this reason, the ability to create a common project is essential and cohesion of the teacher group is a key element.

The course runs for seven weekends (from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm), plus three retreat weekends (Saturdays and Sunday mornings).
