Siemens and the Higher Polytechnic School of Mondragon have today signed a framework collaboration agreement aimed at proposing joint activities linked to Industrial Automation and Digitalisation. The agreement was signed at the Mondragon Unibertsitatea Arrasate campus by Luis Garrido, regional director of Digital Industries, Jorge González, regional financial director of Digital Industries, and Carlos García, general coordinator of the Mondragon Higher Polytechnic School.

Both organisations have committed, in a framework agreement, to propose joint activities for teacher training, the provision of educational content, the acquisition of laboratory equipment and the organisation of events. The agreement also envisages collaboration in the development of regulated training and continuous training activities, and leaves open the possibility of providing R&D&I services.

Furthermore, as a result of this agreement, both organisations will collaborate in the development of scientific and technological fields of common interest, with special emphasis on talent and the promotion of young professionals.

The agreement is in line with the strategy of the university, part of the MONDRAGON Corporation, to respond to the needs of industry by training tomorrow's professionals so that they can meet the future challenges facing companies.

The primary objective of Siemens in the field of education is to provide teachers with quality content so that they can pass on the knowledge they have acquired to their students. With the rapid advancement of technology, education needs to catch up in order to avoid a gap between university education and the real needs of business.

For more than 20 years, Siemens has been committed to training the best qualified people in the various industrial sectors. In addition to the university, Dual Training is a good method for bringing education closer to the real business world. The company has four Dual Training programmes and an agreement with the Fundación Universidad y Empresa (University and Company Foundation) by means of which more than 200 students undertake work experience each year at Siemens.

Recently, the company has also worked closely with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training to train more than five hundred teachers in Industrial Manufacturing with subjects related to the latest trends in the digitisation of Industry 4.0. Cybersecurity, Digital Twin, Virtual Commissioning, Cloud and Edge Computing, among others, are the topics that have been covered in this training programme.
