On 19-20 November, the teaching-research staff of the Department of Mechanics and Industrial Production of the Higher Polytechnic School will give the training course for professionals “Metallurgy and Properties of Metallic Materials Used in Aeronautics”, organised by HEGAN (Basque Aerospace Cluster).

The sessions will be held from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm and will take place in building 101 of the Biscay Technology Park (Zamudio). The course is aimed at personnel engaged in the production and design of the metalworking sector in aeronautics and seeks to help attendees understand the reasons that justify the influence of the internal characteristics and properties of metallic materials used in aeronautics in the behaviour of these materials during its processing. To do this, the general theoretical concepts of metallurgy and the mechanical and physical properties of the metallic materials used in aeronautics of interest (Ni-base superalloys and Ti alloys) will be described, and these theoretical concepts will be related to the behaviour in the processing of these materials (machining, forming).

Speakers will include researchers from the High Performance Machining research group and the Advanced Material Forming Processes research group of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, with extensive experience in projects financed in different calls (regional, national, and European) and through research and transfer contracts with companies in the aeronautical sector.
