Markel Gómez, who is currently attending the Master’s degree in Biomedical Technologies at Mondragon Unibertsitatea, had the opportunity to present at the 2019 CASEIB the End-of-Course Project prepared last year, thus opting for the GIB student award. The student of Mondragon Unibertsitatea presented his work “Adaptation and development of micromachining technologies for the point-of-care diagnostics sector” in the framework of the congress held in Santander on 27-29 November. Gómez prepared this work in the company Microliquid, in his final project of Degree in Biomedical Engineering, under the guidance of Professor Patxi Aristimuño.

CASEIB 2019 marked the 37th edition of the Annual Congress of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering and was organised in this edition by the University of Cantabria (UC) through the group of Applied Optical Techniques (TOA), the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (HUMV), and the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (SEIB).

Irene Varela and Erik Isusquiza, students of last year’s Master’s degree in Biomedical Technologies, also had the opportunity to present their work at CASEIB 2018, held on that occasion in Ciudad Real. In the 2017 edition, which took place in Bilbao, Marta Calvo, a student of the Degree in Biomedical Engineering, also presented her work called “Influence of respiratory rate induced in HRV values”. Thus, the Higher Polytechnic School of Mondragon Unibertsitatea has participated in the CASEIB congress for three consecutive years.
