The project was carried out as a collaboration between the communications group Goiena and the Faculty of Humanities and Education. In addition to Goiena director Iban Arantzabal and Mondragon University researcher Amaia Pavón, representatives from the three public administrations that manage Tabakalera also participated in the event: Minister of Culture Bingen Zupiria, President of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa Markel Olano, and San Sebastian Mayor Eneko Goia. The presentation took place in San Sebastian.

The project is the fruit of a long research process. In addition to organizing two world café sessions, the contributors carried out approximately 80 interviews with representatives from the audiovisual sector. Furthermore, a group of six experts served as a “contrast group,” suggesting improvements to the project. Finally, the results of the survey carried out by researchers from the University of the Basque Country were taken into account in writing the report; the survey collected the patterns of the audiovisual consumption of 2,500 Guipuzkoan teenagers.

The 2deo project has worked in turn to achieve a series of other undertakings throughout the process of its creation. For example, the transformation of the Go!azen series was launched in a transmedia broadcast, a competition was organized for the production of a web series in Basque, and the development of JarriON, an app to manage audiovisual content in Basque from a cell phone, was promoted.

The 2deo laboratory will have a specific mission: to increase audiovisual consumption in Basque, by promoting creation, experimenting in formats, and increasing distribution channels, all by stimulating popular participation and the audiovisual sector. With respect to its objectives, the laboratory outlines four: promote the Basque language, increase consumption, influence the sector, and support internationalization.
