This visit by students of the Master's Degree in Cybersecurity is part of the industrial cybersecurity module taught in the professional master's degree at Mondragon Unibertsitatea. During the visit, the students were able to learn first-hand the situation of industrial companies with regard to cybersecurity and the needs that exist.

The aim of ZIUR is to reinforce and enhance the cyber-security capabilities of industrial companies. To this end, they have recently set up an industrial cybersecurity laboratory. The laboratory comprises several environments that include automation and control systems (PLCs, SCADAs, HMIs, etc.) which can be connected to cyber-security systems in order to test and simulate a complete industrial process. This makes it possible to test security measures or new features in network elements, to compare security features from different manufacturers, to test new cybersecurity solutions in automation systems, and to verify how network architecture and cybersecurity solutions affect industrial processes.

One of the most interesting aspects of this laboratory is the ability to carry out tests for verifying systems or components of industrial automation and control systems. Attacks can be simulated and their consequences replicated in order to evaluate the components, systems and products that make up the infrastructure in an industrial company.

In short, this laboratory can be used to evaluate new devices or products developed by industry in Gipuzkoa, as well as devices manufactured by third parties that are to be implemented in industry.
