Abstract:

This work is a part of a project to develop a set of tools for analyzing biological objects modeled by rooted tree graphs in collaboration with the Center of Bioinformatics in Bordeaux (CBiB) and the plant modeling lab of Cirad in Montpellier.

The main goal of the project is to develop a library to compare biological tree structures. Many biological objects can be modeled as rooted trees. We will be interested here in applications to RNA comparison.

Edit distance, introduced to compare sequences, are generalized to define distances between trees. A set of algorithms and their implementation are currently integrated into a software called ALEA.

The main goal of this project is to develop a complete application that allows biologists to efficiently compare RNA secondary structure.
