HUHEZI presents the second edition of International Courses for 2008-2009

2008-02-19 08:47

The Faculty of Humanities and Education, at Mondragon University, HUHEZI, has presented the second edition of it international courses for  the academic year 2008-2009. Both will be given in English during the first term. Last year nine students from various European countries took part in the first edition.

Objectives

During their stay in Eskoriatza the students of the international courses will take part in most of their subjects, all of which are in English, alongside our own students. In this way the University aims to strengthen in a real way the presence of English in subjects. In addition to classes, the students from the Erasmus programme will attend various conferences, take part in visits and carry out group work.

Courses

Two courses are on offer for this second edition of the International courses:

  • Education and Minority Language. The international students (with studies related to education) who opt for this course in HUHEZI, will be able to learn how education is developed and structured in a situation of multilingualism with a dominant language. Their studies will be complemented by a period of teaching practice in Infant and Primary schools.
  • Media and Minority Language. This course is directed towards students of communication and journalism, and its focus is on the analysis and study of Basque Media. Students will carry out a practice period in the EITB24 digital service.

Five subjects will be taught on each course. In both cases at the end of the course students will be awarded 20 ECTS credits which are officially recognised in European education.

Special courses

These courses are of special significance since Mondragon University is the first university in the Basque Country to offer this type of course entirely in English.  It is more usual for foreign students to come and study through the medium of Spanish.
