Agreement signed between HUHEZI and EITB for students from Erasmus programme to carry out practice period in eitb24
HUHEZI, the Faculty of Humanities and Education, at Mondragon University, and eitb24 have signed a collaboration agreement to the effect that during the academic year 2008-9 the students who come to HUHEZI via the Erasmus programme to study Media and Journalism-Interantional programme will be able to carry out, in English, their practice period in the digital service of eitb.com.
Under the agreement the Erasmus students will go twice a week to the headquarters of EITB in Bilbao, where they will be working with the team who run the information web eitb24. They will be adapting the news into web format for publication on eitb.com and then sending them to a number of aggregators. The people in charge at eitb24 will assess the students’ work.
The students will also create a blog within the eitb.com service, where they will relate their experiences in the Basque Country. On the blog they will have to post three messages a week, along with photos and videos where necessary.
Thirdly, they will have to write four reports about the Basque Country on subjects of their choice. All this will be written in English.
Special courses
These courses are of special significance since Mondragon University is the first university in the Basque Country to offer this type of course entirely in English. It is more usual for foreign students to come and study through the medium of Spanish.
This type of international course is a pedagogical innovation and a new way of teaching introduced in the Nordic countries who have a long tradition of new educational models. Norway, Finland, Holland and Belgium were the originators of the idea and where this type of course has been set up to attract and improve the stays of foreign students who are able to use English to carry out their studies.
