Electric energy
The research group Electric Energy focus its activity on the energy management, in applications such as the distributed generation (generation, transmission and distribution), traction (railway and naval) and electronic devices (elevation, industrial processes, etc..).
The research lines are connected to the fields: power electronics and electrical machines, two of the basic components of most of the electronic devices under study. Hence, added to a detailed analysis of the final application allows to a complete and balanced design and development, of these electronic devices.

1.- POWER ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS FOR ELECTRIC ENERGY CONTROL
The research line is focused on:
- Applications on new power electronic components.
- New power electronic converter topologies development.
- Development of power electronic devices connected to the Medium Voltage grid, for several applications.
- Coordination of electric-electronic components for distributed generation applications.
2.- DRIVES FOR TRACTION AND ELECTRIC ENERGY GENERATION APPLICATIONS
The main objective of this research line is to develop the required know-how for design, modelling, simulation and control of devices which operation principle is the electromagnetism.
- Modelling, simulation and control of AC electrical machines: (vector control, direct torque control, state observers, sensorless systems, parameter estimation, etc…)
- Electromagnetism: Development of mathematical tools to design electrical machines and actuators. Studying then their behaviour with finite element methods, allowing to improve and optimize their performance.
- Application analysis: Applications such as wind energy generation, vertical transport and traction require the specification of the different elements in order to perform an optimized system.
