Mondragon University has created MUtelebista, a corporate Internet TV

Sep 29, 2010
Mondragon University has created an Internet TV, MUtelebista, the first corporate television in the Mondragon corporation. MUtelebista will have three elements: 3-minute weekly reports, live broadcasts via streaming and a deposit of audiovisual products. The news story that opened the series, the first one, is dedicated to newly arrived students to college.

Corporate TV

Every Wednesday at noon MUtelebista will offer a 3-minute newscast based on a single or multiple pieces of information. From time to time, taking advantage of specific events (Komunikaldiak, Literature Week...) MUtelebista will broadcast them live over the Internet, using streaming technology. As a test, this technology was used by MUtelebista on September 6th, during the official opening of the academic year 2010-2011 in Mondragon. MUtelebista’s third element will be an audiovisual deposit where audiovisual works by the students and professors at the university will be exhibited.

Linguistic criteria

The Basque language, Euskera, will be the official language in MUtelebista, where all content will be subtitled in English and Spanish. In the event that a respondent expresses himself in Spanish, his statements will be subtitled in English and in Basque. And when someone speaks in English, will do the same in Basque and Spanish. These criteria reflect the language policy of Mondragon University.

Team director

The grade of Media Studies will be responsible for conducting MUtelebista, coordinated by Professor Idoia Astigarraga. Technical responsibility will be carried out by Idurre Lazkano, which will have the collaboration of the student Itziar Irizar, who in turn will introduce the newscasts. The team will be supported by an editorial board, with representation from all faculties.
