Jan 13, 2009
Now that the second edition of International Courses has finished, HUHEZI, the Faculty of Humanities and Education of Mondragon University, has publicized the third edition of these courses for academic year 2009-2010. This third edition features several developments that involve notable improvements over previous editions.

These are the courses for the third edition:

  • Media and Journalism Course. Aimed at students following studies related to Communication and Journalism. In different subjects, students will work on digital journalism and the foundations of international communication. As part of their training, students who enroll in this program will do their practicum in EITB, the biggest multimedia group in the Basque Country.
  • Education and Multilingualism Course. International students whose studies are related to education, and who choose to attend this program in HUHEZI can learn how to structure and develop education in a multilingual situation with the presence of a majority language. They will carry out their practicum in various schools of the Deba Valley.

Each course will offer four subjects, one of which is common to both courses, Basque Culture, which covers diverse aspects along with Basque language and education and media. Upon completion of their course, students receive 30 ECTS credits, approved by the European area of Education.

Such courses constitute an international educational innovation, a new form of teaching that has been launched in the Nordic countries with a long tradition of new educational models. Norway, Finland, Netherlands and Belgium are the countries that have most worked on this idea, because they decided to launch this type of courses to attract and facilitate the stay of foreign students using English as the language of study. As for Mondragon University, it is the first university in the Basque Country that organizes such courses, entirely in English.

Fourteen students

In the first two editions of these courses, 14 students have taken part from the following countries: 4 from Belgium, 4 from the Netherlands, 2 from Turkey, 2 from Denmark and 1 from Estonia. The International Office of Mondragon University has assisted these students in finding accommodation.
