Degree project

Objective

The aim of the Degree Project (Proyecto Fin de Carrera - PFC) is to elaborate and present a piece of work that may integrate the technical and transversal skills acquired while studying for the degree. It favours the approach of students to the labour market.

It is addressed to students carrying out the following degrees:

Degree in Business Administration and Management (Oñati Campus)

  • Specialty: Finance
  • Specialty: Marketing
  • Specialty: Organisation Management

Certificate in Business Science (Bidasoa Campus)

  • Specialty: Logistics and Transportation
  • Specialty: International Trade

Modality

There are two modalities in order to carry out the Degree Project:

  1. Degree Project in the same environment.
  2. Degree Project abroad (Companies, subsidiaries...)

Execution deadline

The ordinary execution deadline for the Degree Project goes from

March to June (4 months). The student will work on the Degree Project as established next:

  • Degree in Business Administration and Management: Full time.
  • Certificate in Business Science: 5 hours/day.

Degree project procedure

The Procedure of the Degree Project is divided into four sub-processes that are explained in detail next:

APPROACH TO THE DEGREE PROJECT

Its aim is to gather Degree Project applications from companies and institutions. It intends to obtain Degree Projects that may match the students’ profile, with well-defined objectives and an adequate dimension.

DEGREE PROJECT ASSIGNMENT

Its aim is to assign a Degree Project to each student. This is a complex task since it should satisfy the needs of two customers: the company and the student. This process is carried out by the Project Assignment Committee which takes into account criteria such as: the requisites of the company, the place in which the student lives and the place in which the company is located, the preferences of the student, etc.

EXECUTION AND FOLLOW-UP OF THE DEGREE PROJECT

The aim of this sub-process is to guarantee that the project is carried out satisfactorily both for the company and for the student. Thus, the following roles are created:

  • Person in charge of the Project: person belonging to the company that must see to it that the company provides the necessary resources for the project to be correctly developed. Besides, this person will carry out the final assessment of the project.
  • Project Advisor: A teacher working at the Faculty that will assume the responsibility to see to it that all the projects meet all the academic requisites demanded and that will also serve as an interlocutor between the company and the faculty.

EXECUTION AND ASSESSMENT OF DEGREE PROJECTS

Its aim is to assess the student’s training process and the degree of satisfaction of the student and of the company.

The Degree Project is presented before an academic tribunal formed by teachers and by members of the company staff.

PROCEDURE CALENDAR

  • Reception of Degree Project applications: Until the 15th of December 2006
  • Communication of Degree Project assignment: Before the 5th of February 2007
  • Execution of Degree Project: March-June
  • Assessment of the Degree Project: Two Periods: July and September

ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION OF THE PROJECT

The Degree Project is regulated by an Educational Cooperation Agreement subscribed by the Faculty, the company and the student, according to the Royal Decree 1497/1981, on Educational Cooperation Programmes.
